1) Describe five ways in which you think you have human capital that is truly unique:
1. Natural Leader: I have always loved sports and I've liked to be a leader in the field. So I can say that I have always liked to carry my teammates forward and put in everything I have to get the win.
2. Independent: I have always been very independent, ever since I had to live by myself and take care of myself since I was 17 years old (I am an international student) I don't feel that I need anyone to do something that I can do myself.
3. Devoted: Once I commit myself to a do something its basically all or nothing, I don't like to leave things undone, and I like to get things done myself.
4. Hard worker: I have always helped out my father in the family business. Whenever needed I would wake up at 6 am and work until the sun was down, if we were in our farm that was the case if I was working in the offices in the city I'd work until I was needed. Same thing with college, I'd do anything and everything to achieve the A.
5. Finally, I am concerned about the well being of others and not only people I care about. I can feel like I want to help anyone in need in the streets or lost animals, I like to help whoever I can.
2) Interview the five people who know you the best:
1. Gary
Gary has been my teacher/tutor for the past 5 years we have developed a great relationship over the years. He thinks of myself of someone who wants to be involved in the development of as many things as I can put my mind to. He also thinks that I am a person that once I want to learn something I'll do it, if it interests me I'll get as informed in the matter as I can. Also, Gary thinks that I'm a really respectful person.
2. Claudia
Claudia has been my girlfriend for the past 5 years and I think that she is one of the persons that knows me best. She thinks that I am a good person overall, with my family, with my friends, and with her. She also thinks that I have a good heart and that I like to help those in need.
3. Luis C.
Luis is my cousin and we're basically the same age so we were raised together and have remained very close friends over the years. He thinks that I have always been a great friend to him and thinks that I am a natural leader. He states that I have always been a great member of our family with everyone.
4. Jonathan (on speakerphone)
Jonathan is one of my friends and has been probably for the longest time. We know each other since we were 3 years old and he knows me as good as anyone else in this list. He states that I was always a leader in our class (he was my classmate from PK to senior year) he assures that everyone including him. People always listened to what I had to say and often acted as I suggested. We have been teammates in the soccer field and have always kept a great relationship, he also states that I have always been a good friend to him and our friends in common.
5. Orietta (on speakerphone)
Orietta is my sister and is the person that knows me best in this list. As she stated in the interview, she helped my mom raise me and was always there for me. She says that she has been there for me every step of the way as I changed and matured into being a man. She says that I have always been there for her and my parents, and that I have always been her best friend as I always cared for her and those around me.
3) Reflect on the differences:
I think that I assessed myself in a way that I think is as accurate and objective as can be. I think that in comparison to the way I assessed myself, how other people assessed me differs due to the relationship I have with each of them. One was my sibling the other my friend and the other my girlfriend, so with each one I have a different relationship and that made each comment every person had to say different. I think that if you put what the people said about me together it basically sums up the way I assessed myself. So, yes I think that the interviews were accurate.

Nicolas, I admire that you assessed yourself objectively and looked at your qualities based on your actions and past experiences. After listening to your interviews it seems like all of your interviewees second your self assessment, even though they do have different perspectives. One thing I truly liked about this assignment, though, was listening to the things I didn't notice in myself.
ReplyDeleteExcellent post, I am enthralled to see that other people experienced the same thing I did that their interviews lined up quite well with the way that they initially assessed themselves. I think it means that for the most part we were pretty honest with ourselves giving us the ability to take in constructive criticism in a more accepting way. I look forward to reading more of you posts you seem to have a great grip on this blogging thing.
